Is Your Wordpress iPhone App Crashing at Setup?
Posted by Jonathan WilburJul 22
I was so excited to hear that the WordPress App for iPhone was released today. With the two blogs I manage, I was only able to get one setup successfully. For this blog, the files are contained in a folder off the root (http://www.example.com/blog). This blog was set up without any problems.
jonathanwilbur.com however, was crashing during setup (this is a known bug according to the FAQ’s found here. The files for jonathanwilbur.com are located just off the root of the domain.
A note on another blog reminded me of some extra set up which was needed when I set up scribefire in Firefox. I needed to point the Blog URL directly to the xmlrpc.php file. So I tried this solution with jonathanwilbur.com pointing the Blog URL to…
www.jonathanwilbur.com/xmlrpc.php
Once added, the blog was set up sucessfully within the app without a crash and I have had no problems since. While I doubt this will work in all cases, it worked for me. Hopefully this will work for others using WordPress and iPhone.

Thanks very much for the tip, worked perfectly for me!! Was bummed when it crashed, thought I was going to have to wait to start iPhone pressin’ until the next release.

I don’t even get the opportunity to setup. The Wordpress logo appears for a second or two then drops back to the menu screen. Any ideas?

@matt, I had this issue happen with all of my iTunes Apps. Turns out there is a bug with the newest version of iTunes which was messing with the DRM of the apps. The only solution I found was to re-install as a new phone…hopefully this isn’t the case for you.
