So my photography website is undergoing a major transformation. I was previously using a company called smugmug which was a paid subscription site. After a year, I just found it wasn’t as flexible as I would have liked it to be. The design is very Web2.0 however it has limitations. I must admit however, you have more freedom with that site than most.
For this redesign, I am hand-coding the entire site. There are some scripts and files I’ve been able to find on line that have helped with this redesign. For the gallery itself, I created a display and admin tool found on a tutorial here. I’ve combined the gallery function with a javascript popup in a tool called highslide. Getting the two to work together was a challenge as I only have basic understanding of php, MySQL, and Javascript. So far, the results are quite pleasing as you can see from my galleries here.
I still have a few more bugs to work out and of course much more uploading of photography. I hope to have everything done in the next few weeks.
