I waited in line

yes, I waited in line for the new iphone. I was one of the many who wanted the first generation iPhones but could not justify the $600 last year. So apple made my day on June 9th announcing the next generation would initially be available for a third of the price.

So yesterday came. My wife and I waited outside the apple store in Jacksonville. Well, actually mall security kicked us out at 4am. So we came back at 7. We we’d about 75 deep which went by so quickly.

8am came. Doors opened. People cheered. The heavens aligned…the insanity began.

Major kudos to apple for dealing with the crowd. Even when iTunes crashed, they didn’t flinch. We were out the door by 10, activated phones in hand. Walking back the car, the lime had grown and wrapped around the corner, everyone hoping there were enough inside, and the apple employees hoping the day would be over soon.

Now it has been a while since my last post but I write for two reasons. First, I am Melbourne for my best friends wedding and second, I can post from my I phone.

Yes, that’s right…I’ve gone off the deep end. I can blog from my phone. I can also find the church, check the weather, find out where the groom is, and tell if we will hit traffic on the way to the church. Heck, I could thoretically use iTunes, be the dj, and remotely control the music from the dancefloor.

Thanks to apple allowing developers to build apps, the possibilities are endless. With the shake of a hand,I can exchange business cards with someone. If I don’t know the name of the song on the radio I can hold my phone to the speaker,find the name and artist and then immediately search for the song on iTunes and download it directly to my phone.

And my wife loves it too.

Is it worth it. Yes. Worth the outrageous termination fee we will incur from T-mobile. Yes. It was all worth getting rid of our windows mobile phones.

We love them and can’t wait for more apps. May even pay for a few soon.
