CSS made easy

How many times have you created a website using CSS and driven yourself crazy with all the class names and attributes? Wouldn’t it be nice to have a simple tool with dropdowns that lets you choose the class, attributes, and values? Look no further. Matt over at Meta Titan has developed an easy to use tool that creates custom CSS code in a matter of minutes. Simply choose from a preset list of classes, choose the attributes you would like to customize and what values you want and select “build it”. Instantly you can copy and past the code into your stylesheet. Check it out here

As a New York Giants fan, I can certainly appreciate this article I came across.  Everyone knows of the long standing rivalry between the Giants and Cowboys as divisional foes.  A rivalry that dates back longer than some of us have been born.

As it turns out, the Dallas Cowboys have recently participated in a auction for the domain name Cowboys.com.  They thought they had placed a winning bid of $275.00for the domain.  However, when the legal team received the purchase agreement, they amount on the agreement was $275,000.  It turns out, it was an oversight by the legal team thinking they could purchase the domain for less than the price of a roundtrip ticket to Dallas.

The rest of the article can be found here.  A very amusing story for any football internet geek.

Redesign of my photo site

So my photography website is undergoing a major transformation. I was previously using a company called smugmug which was a paid subscription site. After a year, I just found it wasn’t as flexible as I would have liked it to be. The design is very Web2.0 however it has limitations. I must admit however, you have more freedom with that site than most.

For this redesign, I am hand-coding the entire site.  There are some scripts and files I’ve been able to find on line that have helped with this redesign.  For the gallery itself, I created a display and admin tool found on a tutorial here.  I’ve combined the gallery function with a javascript popup in a tool called highslide.  Getting the two to work together was a challenge as I only have basic understanding of php, MySQL, and Javascript.  So far, the results are quite pleasing as you can see from my galleries here.

I still have a few more bugs to work out and of course much more uploading of photography.  I hope to have everything done in the next few weeks.
